Golf cart speaker ideas can be surprisingly simple. As we all know, higher-end golf carts usually come with some kind of audio system. But most golf carts still need you to add your own speaker, and there are quite a few ways to do it.
If you like something big, you can install a soundbar.
But personally, I’m not a big fan of that option.
A soundbar is usually pretty large, not that easy to install, and honestly, it can be louder than you really need on a golf course.
You don’t want to accidentally blast your “terrible” music taste for everyone around you to hear. Haha.
And another thing about soundbars: once you install one, it basically stays there.
For me, golf isn’t about throwing a party on the cart. I just want some music while I’m driving around the course.
Why I Prefer a Portable Bluetooth Speaker
If you like medium-sized speakers, I think the JBL Flip series is a really good choice.
It’s a portable Bluetooth speaker, so it’s easy to carry around, and it only weighs around 700g depending on the model.
The JBL Flip 5, Flip 6 and Flip 7 are all pretty easy to take with you. You can use the same speaker for a road trip, camping, or other outdoor activities instead of leaving it permanently on your golf cart.
And if you have two compatible JBL speakers, you can connect them through the JBL app and enjoy a wider stereo setup.
That’s one of the reasons I like portable speakers more. You’re not buying something that only works on the golf cart.
The question is:
How do you mount a Bluetooth speaker on a golf cart?
My Magnetic Speaker Mount for the JBL Flip Series
I designed a magnetic speaker mount for the JBL Flip series.
It works with the JBL Flip 5, Flip 6 and Flip 7.
The idea is pretty simple: strong magnets hold the mount in place, so you can attach it to a suitable metal surface on the golf cart and take it off again when you’re done.
If you want to bring the speaker home, just take it with you.
No need to leave the whole setup permanently installed on the cart.
That’s the kind of setup I personally prefer — simple, removable and easy to use.
What About Smaller Speakers?
If you prefer something smaller, the JBL GO series is another great option. JBL GO 3, GO 4 and GO 5 are all compact, lightweight portable Bluetooth speakers, so they’re easy to carry around and don’t take up much space.
I designed another mount specifically for the JBL GO 3–5 series. It clamps directly onto a bar or rail, so it isn’t limited to a golf cart. You can use it on a bike, motorcycle, sailboat, golf cart, or other outdoor setups with a suitable rail or bar.
That’s actually what I like most about this setup. You don’t need a different speaker system for every activity. Take the same little JBL GO speaker from your golf cart to your bike, motorcycle or sailboat, clamp it on, and keep going.
For me, that makes much more sense than installing a permanent sound system—especially if you already own a JBL GO speaker.
Round bars work too.
That means you can also use it on different tubular or bar-style mounting points — including places on ATVs and UTVs.
If you need more sound, you can even use two mounts with two compatible JBL speakers and connect the speakers through the JBL app.
For me, that’s a much more flexible way to bring music outdoors.
You get the music when you want it, without turning your golf cart into a rolling sound system.
