12 Must-Have Accessories for the Golf Push Cart Mafia

Golf push cart accessories can make a four-hour walk around 18 holes a lot more comfortable — and a lot more fun. If you’re still choosing the cart itself, I also looked at why so many golfers prefer a 3-wheel golf push cart before piling on the accessories. And if music is part of your walking routine, I also looked at how the Push Cart Mafia can listen without being that guy.

If you’re walking 18 holes, you’re probably going to spend three or four hours out on the course. A push cart already makes that walk easier, but a few small accessories can make those four hours a lot more comfortable — and a lot more fun.

What accessories can enhance the functionality of a golf push cart?

Here are 12 push cart accessories that actually make sense to me.

If you’re curious why so many golfers actually prefer walking the course in the first place, I also looked at why the Push Cart Mafia loves walking 18 holes.

1. Cup Holder

Three or four hours is a long time to be walking around outside, so staying hydrated matters.

Whether you’re carrying water, coffee, a sports drink, or something else, having a cup holder right on your push cart means your drink is always within reach.

You don’t want to dig through your golf bag every time you need a sip.

A simple cup holder is one of those basic upgrades that just makes sense. But once I started thinking about open cans, uneven fairways and changing cart angles, a normal cup holder felt a little too simple. That eventually led me to experiment with a golf push cart beer holder that uses a three-ring balancing structure.

2. Umbrella Holder

An Umbrella Holder Is More Useful Than It Looks

An umbrella holder sounds like one of those accessories you buy for the occasional rainy round. But after reading what push-cart golfers actually say, I think the sun may be the better reason to own one.

One golfer said an umbrella was a “game changer.” Before using one, he would finish rounds soaked in sweat and badly dehydrated. With some shade — and a chair to sit on — he felt like he could play 36 holes.

Another golfer uses what he called a “sunbrella”: silver on top, black underneath. He said it noticeably cuts the heat.

That makes a lot of sense. Walking 18 holes is already enough work. There’s no prize for spending four hours roasting in direct sunlight.

And when I see everyone else getting grilled like steaks out there, I have to admit — I feel a little smug under my umbrella.

Suddenly, the umbrella holder doesn’t feel like a rainy-day accessory anymore.

A solid umbrella holder is another must-have.

You can spend hours walking under the sun, and a golf hat alone isn’t always going to give you enough protection.

Add a good UV-blocking golf umbrella, mount it to your push cart, and suddenly you’ve created your own little patch of shade that moves around the course with you.

And of course, when it starts raining, you’re already prepared.

Honestly, an umbrella holder is one of the simplest push cart hacks you can have.I ended up going much deeper into this because I was surprised by how many popular holders still struggle with mediocre reviews, limited handle compatibility, or weak materials. Here’s what I learned about choosing a golf push cart umbrella holder that actually works.

3. Cooler Bag

Golf Push Cart Cooler Bag

If you’re walking with a couple of golf buddies, seriously — who’s going to say no to an ice-cold beer under the sun?

A small insulated cooler bag that can carry three or four beers, sodas, waters, or a few snacks is perfect for a long round.

Keep everything cold, walk the course, talk with your friends, and enjoy the afternoon.

Golf doesn’t always have to be that serious.

Most existing coolers are soft-sided, so I’m also exploring a hard cooler mount for golf push carts as a cleaner, removable alternative.

4. Can Cooler

Once you pull a cold beer, soda, or hard seltzer out of your cooler bag, you probably want it to stay cold for as long as possible.

That’s where a simple can cooler comes in.

It helps keep your drink cold longer, gives you a better grip on the can, and keeps condensation off your hands while you’re walking the course.

Nothing complicated — just one of those small things that feels surprisingly useful halfway through 18 holes on a hot day.

5. Portable Fan

An umbrella helps with the sun, but sometimes shade just isn’t enough.

On a really hot summer day, especially when there’s barely any breeze, a small but powerful portable fan can make walking the course much more comfortable.

Clip it onto the push cart, aim it toward yourself, and at least you’ve got some moving air while you’re walking or waiting for your next shot.

6. Towel Hook or Towel Clip

A golf towel is one of those things you’re constantly using.

Instead of throwing it into your bag or letting it hang somewhere awkwardly, a simple hook or clip on the push cart gives it a permanent place.

You can grab it quickly when you need it and put it right back when you’re done.

It’s a tiny upgrade, but when you’re walking around for four hours, convenience starts to matter.

7. Seat Attachment

Walking for three or four hours can be tiring, even if you enjoy it.

And depending on the course, there isn’t always somewhere convenient to sit down when you’re waiting.

That’s why I think a seat attachment can be surprisingly useful.

You’re not turning your push cart into a golf cart. You’re still walking the course.

You’re just giving yourself somewhere to sit for a few minutes when your legs need a break.

8. Phone or GPS Mount

Phones have become part of modern golf.

You might be using a GPS app, checking the distance to the green, keeping score, or simply looking at the course layout.

Instead of pulling your phone out of your pocket every few minutes, a phone or GPS mount keeps the screen right in front of you.

Mount it directly on the push cart and you can check what you need without stopping.

Simple and useful.

9. Portable Speaker and Speaker Mount

If you’re spending several hours walking through a beautiful golf course, sometimes a little music makes the walk even better.

You obviously don’t want to blast music loud enough to annoy everyone around you.

But a small portable speaker — something like a JBL GO 5 or another compact Bluetooth speaker — can give you some background music without turning the course into a party.

And if you’re going to carry a speaker anyway, a mini speaker mount on the push cart makes a lot more sense than throwing it into your golf bag.

Easy to attach, easy to remove, and always within reach.

10. Club & Ball Washer

I found this one interesting because some Push Cart Mafia golfers actually mount the kind of club and ball washer you normally see on a riding golf cart directly onto their push carts.

ball / club washer

Honestly, customizing the cart is part of the fun.

It becomes a little DIY project.

A compact washer lets you clean dirt and grass off your golf ball or club without having to look for a washing station every time.

The idea itself is really useful. The problem is that a lot of club and ball washers are too bulky and heavy.

That’s exactly the kind of product that makes me wonder whether somebody could design a smaller, lighter version specifically for push carts.Bought one last year because most ball washers stink. just add a little water before each round.

11. Cigar Holder

For golfers who enjoy a cigar during a round, a cigar holder is almost like having a third hand.

You take your shot, put the cigar down, move to the next ball, pick it up again…

A small holder mounted on the push cart gives your cigar a proper place while your hands are busy.

It’s definitely not something every golfer needs.

But for the golfers who enjoy cigars, it’s a pretty nice little accessory.

12. Glove Holder — or Just a Piece of Velcro

This might be my favorite hack on the entire list because it barely costs anything.

One Push Cart Mafia golfer who walks around 90 rounds a year said he simply added a small piece of Velcro to the handle of his push cart.

That’s it.

When he takes off his golf glove, he sticks it right there instead of stuffing it into his pocket or digging through the golf bag later.

Sometimes the best push cart upgrade costs almost nothing.

A small piece of Velcro on the handle can become one of the most useful accessories on the whole cart.

Simple, cheap, and surprisingly smart.
